Trent Moriarty is a composer living in the Pacific Northwest. He specializes in writing orchestral music for indie games, video game mods, and concert works. Trent is best known in the video game modding community for his soundtracks of multiple successful projects.

One such project is The Forgotten City, an expansion mod for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. The first video game mod ever to win a Writers Guild Award and amassing over 2 million downloads, the soundtrack was often specifically praised by fans and the press. PC GAMER lauded that, “You’re in good hands when it comes to the score.”

In December 2021 Trent made his debut on BBC Radio 3, one of the UK’s foremost radio stations for orchestral and classical music. Trent’s composition, “Remembrance of Stars,” was featured on a segment titled “Inspiring Soundtracks to fill you with Courage.”

Trent showed an early interest in music, eagerly attending symphony concerts and collecting classical albums and soundtracks. He started composing on the piano and later began studying orchestration. In addition to many classical composers, Trent cites some of his musical influences as being Howard Shore, Joe Hisaishi, John Williams, and Jeremy Soule.

Believing that music is a language, Trent begins every project by learning about the story, tone, and overarching concepts so he understands what needs to be ‘translated’ into the score. Trent embraces the paradoxes inherent in the creative process,

“Composition is both expression and discovery. Music is a language both articulate and mysterious.”

Outside of music, Trent is passionate about psychology, biographies, and the history of art.
